United States Government Funds Construction of Library and Administration Building at Nzongomane Primary School

The United States Government, through the Department of Defense (DOD), funded the construction of a library and an administration building for Nzongomane Primary School in the Shiselweni Region. This project was funded through the United States Department of Defense’s Humanitarian Assistance Program at a cost of $200,000 (over E2million). The U.S. Government sponsored the construction of the facilities to support the Kingdom of Swaziland’s Ministry of Education in its efforts to provide quality education to the children of Swaziland. The Humanitarian Assistance Program is one of the Department of Defense’s tools aimed at improving the basic living conditions of the civilian populace by providing essential services, such as education.

U.S. Government assistance for this school dates back to 2009, when it benefitted from an Ambassador’s Self-Help Grant for the construction of a kitchen for the school’s feeding scheme. In 2011, the U.S. Government also made a donation of school furniture worth E1.5 million to 23 schools countrywide, including Nzongomane Primary School which received student desks, chairs and filing cabinets.

This project is an example of the partnership and cooperation between Swaziland and the United States of America to support the health, education, and well-being of the people of Swaziland.

The Nzongomane School project is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Defense, the Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland, and the people of Swaziland. The Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland contributed the furniture for both of these facilities. The U.S. Government strongly encourages such partnerships to provide the maximum benefit for the people of Swaziland.
