Sports Scholarships in the USA

On November 25, heads of Sports Associations, student athletes, coaches and teachers gathered at the OlympAfrica Center in Lobamba to discuss Sports Scholarships with  in the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission, Michael Lombardo, spoke about the importance of sports in youth development and emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to assisting students pursue their education in the U.S. The EducationUSA advisor, Sharon Martins, detailed the processes involved in applying for the scholarships as well the resources the Embassy provides for student athletes through the EDUSA network. Soccer Stars Taribo Bhembe and Darren Christie were also there to share their experience as they studied in the U.S. through sports scholarships. The U.S. Embassy in Swaziland, for this program, partnered with the Swaziland National Council for Sports and Recreation (SNCSR) and the Swaziland Olympics and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA).
