You’ve met some of our YALI Mandela Washington Fellows, but did you know there are a lot of really remarkable young Swazi leaders even among the high school students in the country? Five High School students from schools around Swaziland have been selected to participate in the 2017 United States Department of State Pan African Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP) from April 10 – April 29, 2017. PAYLP is a three-week, intensive exchange program in the U.S. in which high school students from across Africa participate in leadership training and service, community site visits related to particular program themes, interactive training in conflict resolution, oral presentations, visits to high schools, cultural activities, and homestays with local American families. A key component of the program is to develop community-based projects in their own communities to affect positive change upon their return home. Here is a group photo of the students with PAO Joia Starks and their mentor, Mr. Titus Sithole.
